Manchester United boss Ten Hag happy with squad depth after winter transfer window

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said he was happy with the depth of his squad after the end of the winter transfer window. United made three signings during this period, all of which were loan deals. The Red Devils signed Jack Butland and Wout Weghorst before completing the transfer of Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich on deadline day.

The Hag said in an interview with reporters that last summer after the investment, they created and built the team and then, after that, it was about developing the team on the training ground. The Dutch tactician went on to say that the squad has enough depth and said that handling the load will be the most important thing. "We have the squad assembled and built, we are also investing in the summer. From that moment it is about developing the team and it has to come in training, it has to come in matches to develop the team." Ten Hag told reporters.

"That is the advantage of having so many matches, that you can work on that and you don't have to wait so long (for the next one)... There is a limit to every player but we have depth in our squad. Maybe not as far as other teams, but that has something to do with your approach to it and how you do your load management. If you do that right, I think you can go far," he added. 

The Hag also admitted that he does not prefer working with a large team. "As I said before, in the frontline until now, we have some problems in quantity. Not in quality but with the availability of the players, you definitely need numbers there if you want to cover all the games. If you want to be successful," said Ten Hag.
